In 2016, Values Partnerships is leading a nationwide casting tour for ABC’s Shark Tank focused on bringing more diverse ideas and voices to the show.
After visiting Detroit, we continued the tour in San Francisco!
On May 26th we brought the casting team for ABC’s Shark Tank to SF for the fifth stop in a nationwide tour focused on bringing more diverse ideas and voices to the show. Values Partnerships partnered with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Walker’s Legacy, Change Catalysts, Ola Initiative, and others to host a casting call at the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center!
Last year, Sprëtz founder Tony Gauthier pitched at our SF casting call. Tony and the Sprëtz team appeared on Season 7 of Shark Tank!
Silicon Valley continues to be a center of gravity for entrepreneurship. The Kauffman Foundation included two Silicon Valley cities – San Jose and San Francisco – in its top metropolitan areas for startup activity in the U.S. in 2016. Each year, the Kauffman Foundation publishes the Kauffman Index that measures startup activity in major metropolitan areas.
According to the Minority Business Development Agency, The state of Michigan is home to over 21% of the minority owned firms in America.
We were excited to return to SF!
(Pitch Prep at Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center)
We began our day in SF with pitch prep. Values Partnerships partnered with the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center and the US Chamber of Commerce to develop a pitch toolkit. This free resource is shared with entrepreneurs at every stop in the 2016 casting tour.
Contributors to the Entrepreneur Pitch Toolkit provided real-time feedback on pitches to entrepreneurs at our SF casting call, our panel included:

Following pitch prep, each entrepreneur pitched to the Shark Tank casting team. Entrepreneurs get up to 3 minutes for their pitch and short discussion; about triple what they would get at a large open call casting.

At each of our casting calls, we work to add value for entrepreneurs. Organizing access to capital discussions is one way that we ensure every entrepreneur leaves our casting calls better than they came.
